Close to me
Apart or together, always close to me
“This piece came on strong as my daughter moved to France earlier this year. I will miss her terribly, but at the same time, I am so happy and excited for her. It is a personal message to my daughter, that regardless of whether we’re apart or together, she’s always close to me.The sentiment applies to any age… a child going away to camp, a teenager leaving for college… the message is the same. The intertwined images carved on the figures’ dresses visually echo this sentiment. I understand this piece from both sides — having been a daughter, and having gone through the experience of raising a daughter to adulthood. I hope both mothers and daughters will connect to the emotions of this piece.”

a tree, a prayer
May you find strength, beauty and peace each day
“A tree can be a metaphor for strength, beauty and peace — qualities we all aspire to. The prayer is one of hope and healing; about living in the moment. The title is as much a prayer as the sentiment. This piece is very open. The tree can be a symbol of anything that is centering and inspirational. Trees are grounding — a connection to that which sustains us. It could also reference the Tree of Life — a universal symbol in many different religions, both Christian and non-Christian.”

Abundance
So much love!
“I think that a rose is one of the most beautiful natural objects that we can – carefully – hold in our hands. We enjoy the intoxicating scent, the silk-velvet touch, the perfect form. They unfold and give forth their fragrance; they’re intimate and draw you in…
“So this piece could be a gift to a mother or friend or Valentine, or someone you’re wishing well. Sometimes it’s nice to give a gift to let someone know that they are a gift in your life.
“I wanted the bouquet to be overflowing – more than enough – to express abundant feelings for someone, or the abundant goodness a person shares with others.”
